Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true, because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst for the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,to venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back the horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
Sir Francis Drake
Known by my nearest and dearest as Vanna, or just V. Born and raised in the beautiful south. I have called the midwest my home for 21 years. Although, my heart is never far from the land of sticky summers, lightnin’ bugs and good barbeque. I have been joyfully, gratefully, ecstatically married for 17 years to the best man I know. Homeschooling momma to 3 precious arrows. First and last and above all else: Believer in and child of the living God. Lover of the Wonderful, Counselor, Jesus. My life is lived for an audience of One.
Pursuer of adventure – anywhere I can find it. I love to connect with people and I ask lots of questions. I value sincerity and honesty, even when it hurts. On a lazy summer day, you will probably find me in my canoe on our backyard river. I have been known to climb a tree or two…or three…to get the perfect shot.
I started my photography journey almost 19 years ago. What began as a love for the art of Ansel Adams and a desire to fuse my appetite for adventure with my desire to create, evolved into a passion for portrait photography. It wasn’t until I had a family of my own that I realized where life’s most precious adventures are hidden.
..In the nervous butterflies as the love of your life asks you to spend your life with him.
..In the tiny kisses of your brand new little one..
..In the anticipation and excitement of a graduating senior ready to take on the world. And the pride and bittersweet joy of the parents who have to let them go.
..In the exhilaration (and exhaustion!) of the day two people pledge their lives to one another. Their passion and love woven into every little detail.
And just maybe, or even especially, in those adventures sometimes found on the long, difficult trudge where we run with endurance the race set before us. The marathon of long nights with tired little ones and short years when we look back and wonder where the time went. As J.R.R. Tolkien put it: “It simply isn’t an adventure worth telling if there aren’t any dragons.
I am grateful for each and every invitation to document your unique adventure.
